Atheros Hoplites

I've been sitting on these for a while, all the time eager to show them off. These photos are rush jobs... so I'll do better ones in a few weeks.

Mid September I'll be activating a new webstore (with a new name and brand) and these will be on sale. Very exciting I'm sure you'll agree!

Now that these are ready and being showcased here I'm eagerly finishing up the next 2-3 months worth of releases. Not that I don't think these are cool miniatures, they are just the baseline humans... the next batch is Archers, heroes, commanders, then fauns, centaurs, minotaurs, minotaurs, harpies, spartans... I'll stop there.

Lots of separate heads, arms, shields and things for converting you plastic miniatures too (i like Victrix ancient stuff).

Hoplite production casts

Very happy with these. Actual casts from an actual production mold.

These are 2 part miniatures, only the right weapon arm needs glued in place. Well technically 3 parts, the shields will follow. The spears are solid, any bend will be minimum and easily fixed (lots of trial an error to achieve this)

Test colour schemes below, LOTS more work now kicking off to make these available for sale over the summer.

Even more metal hoplites...

I'm taking my time with this project to get it right... dynamic hoplites in metal. Further complicated by trying to do it with as little parts as possible.

Getting there.

My shields were just slightly too thin for a robust and reliable production so I need to re-work them, luckily Victrix now do plastic loose hoplite shields so that's a good modelling crutch.

Daughters of the Burning Rose - resins from Anvil Industry

My chums down at Anvil Industry sent me some miniatures this weekend. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.

Paint jobs in the coming weeks.

The kickstarter has closed now but take a look and see... they should be available for retail in the near future:

Tox Troopers - heroic scale WIP

I had so much fun making the test miniature I decided to make 4 more. Still lots of detail and touch ups to be done. These might make good conversion fodder some day...

Heroic style desert guys

These are proof of concept miniatures, the bodies are test casts of my sculpts coupled with some warhammer heads and arms.

They look OK... I need to try other configurations and colour schemes.

Tox Troopers remastered

After a long hobby drought I got a sculpting itch, so jumped in on a whim a remastered my tox trooper sculpts. I have no idea if these are still on sale or in stock at anvil industry at the present time.

In terms of remastering it was more than touch ups here and there... I completely chopped off all the feet and re-sculpted them (I never used to be good at feet) and added some more bulk to the lower long coats.

When I originally made them it wasn't to proxy into an existing game system, the style of my sculpts was very slim and tall, unlike most of the popular ranges out in the market. I've picked up some Games Workshop stuff recently and think I'll use them as heresy era traitor guard at some point.

If I can finish up a heavy weapon trooper and some command/characters I might have them cast up.

They are still quite slight and make the old space marines look suitably superhuman. Compared to the newer Primaris space marines though they will be completely tiny... so I did a mock up of a heroic style trooper...
