Hades Hoplites - 3D prints

These are all multi-part and interchangeable, printed at 28-30mm historical size - the same as the rest of the Atheros mythology range I have (which also match the size of Victrix plastics.)

Mythology Terrain, Hecate Statue - 3D prints

More pics to follow on this project, this is a statue of Hecate in various forms.

Faun Slingers - 3D prints

I painted these up as underworld shades. They're printed smaller and I like them, and were a good exercise in understanding the style of a sculpt vs the intended print size.

I've always ignored people talking about "scale" when it comes to miniatures, it's more about size and style for me.

Cydonian Helots - 3d prints

I printed these quite small (28mm) but they're only tests. I'd like another pass at the sculpts to add in more details and distinguishing features between them.

The concept is slave infantry in the minotaurs army.

Cyclops 2 - 3d Print

The second of my cyclops sculpts, better than the first, few tweaks to make to the pose then it's onto some detail and characterisation. This print is 50mm tall.

I'll be looking to retail these in the new year all going to plan. Platform still tbc.

New mythology range - Acheron

After a few months of beavering away I've achieved a good grasp of 3d sculpting in Zbrush, and 3D printing using the Mars 2 Elegoo pro.

I need to figure out the best place to retail the STL files next, but for now: a preview.

These are 30mm on average, historical style and size (not games workshop size like my sci-fi stuff). All multipart with separate heads, arms and shields.

Thematically these people live on the threshold of the underworld, I'll do a follow up with some of the lore at a later date, along with the terrain I've made for them, some of it also 3d printed.

Low quality iphone pics for now

Atheros Strategos

Had this guy for a while, unpainted and unreleased.

He'll be part of a bundle deal going up at Edinburgh Miniature Company soon.

Cyclops Shepherd

I've made several Cyclops minis in the past, none I was ever happy with... I'm happy with this one I made digitally.

It's almost finished painting it and it works really well. The 3D printer is burring away in the background printing more.

Oh, and this hero mini is the baseline for the rest of the ranges to come in terms of style and size.

Harpies, Scorpions, Ghosts

Few more shots of test sculpts/prints.

I'm not sold on the colour schemes yet but they paint up nice none the less.

Kobaloi

Blogger seems to be on the blink again so I've not posted (or even commented on blogs I follow) much lately.

The 3D sculpting and printing learning continues.

Kobaloi for greek mythology have become little dog men for me. First time I've ever done therianthrope style creatures but it was lots of fun and I think I managed to get some nice characterisation in these.

The heads and shields are separate/multi part.

Been a while since I painted, or photographed minis, so presentation is a little rusty.

Armoured Skeletons (Mythology)

I see tons of 3d sculpts intended for miniatures but they're pretty much vapourware as far as I'm concerned...

That said, these are some test sculpts I'll be printing soon.

Paint jobs - 3D printed skeletons

I think these aren't bad, I could tweak them forever but they paint up well (very quick paint job and I'm a bit rusty).

The poses need a bit of work. I really like the one slightly swaying and dragging his sword and would like to get more of that characterisation into the range.

In terms of scale style and size I think I'm good to go, next up will be making some dynamic looking poses and getting them printed. The armour will have slightly more elaboration on it so when I go in with the patina on the bronze the wash has lots of detail to pool around. I do regret the armoured skeleton pose being a bit bland but it was actually the first test print... just so happens it was spot on in terms of what I wanted and was able to paint it.

Getting ahead of myself, no reason I can't do medieval themed skeletons with these base files in the future.

For now I'm sticking to mythology.
